UFS111 - 5th Reflection Topic



Banners and signs should use correct English. The reason is that if we use incorrect English, how many times do we have to read that sentences? It will be confused and we had to go back and re-read it to try figure out what it meant. Besides that, when a tourist from different country come to Malaysia and they read the banner or sign with incorrect English, it will surely spoil our reputation. Not only that, they might misunderstand the point and these may cause some troubles for them. As we know, English is widely used in this globalization century, so let us learn to use the correct English and make life easier!!!! ;)

UFS111 - 4th Reflection Topic


- LIFE WITHOUT LIMITATION -


The main message from that video clip is sometimes life beats us down and we do not want to get back up, Nick said if we fall, get back up! This is because, it does not matter how we start, but it is how we finish it. So, are we going to finish strong? Nick Vujicic will !! He overcame his disability to live not just independently but a rich, fulfilling life, becoming a model for anyone seeking true happiness. I'm inspired after watched this video. It makes me to find my life's purpose despite whatever difficulties or seemingly impossible odds stand in my way. He radiates the warmth, happiness and sheer good humour that provides an amazing object lesson about being comfortable in my own body! If i fail, i wiil try again... if you fail, are you trying 2 try again? Human spirit can handle much more than realize!!!

UFS111 - 4rd Vocabulary Entry




1) Inspirational - stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity.
ex : After i watched the video clip yesterday, i found the day truly inspirational.

2) Motivation - The psychological feature
that arouses a person to action towards a desired goal; the reason for that action.
ex: The lazy man does not have the motivation to do what he must be done.

3)Selective - of or characterized by selection; discriminating

ex: There are signs that credit card providers are becoming more selective about who gets
the best deals.

4) Procrastinate - to put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness.
ex: At last, they do not procrastinate on the project, they started to do it now.

5) Lackadaisical - lacking spirit, liveliness or interest.
ex : As a youth, we should not be lackadaisical in the sports.

CHAPTER 3 : LOST WORDS

- MACHU PICCHU & CHICHEN ITZA -

3rd REFLECTION :





Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza have many differences and similarities. First of all, the similarities between Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza are both of the places are human made. In ancient time, the leaders force the humans to built it with their own energy. Secondly, both places are ancient structure since it was built a very long time ago. Besides that, the people who had stayed at Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza, had left now, since they wanted to experience a better life style. Apart from that, both of the places are historical places also. As for sure, those two places will attract lots of tourist and researchers to explore from all around the world. And the most easiest similarities for both places is, the structure, it is made up by stone. Next the differences between Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza. Machu Picchu is at high land whereas Chichen Itza is on the low land. Machu picchu had sacrifice many citizens over there because they were forced to built many stone fortresses but Chichen Itza did not sacrifice like that.
Another thing is that, at Chichen Itza there do have sports compared to Machu Picchu they do not have it. On the other side, Macchu Picchu is developed in Europe calender and the Chichen Itza is in the Miladiah calendar. Lastly, the most important point of differences between the two places is that; Machu Picchu is a lost city whereas Chichen Itza is a lost temple. Compared to both of the places, my favourite place will be the Macchu Picchu. The reason is that when i go to the Macchu Picchu i can enjoy the beauty of nature where there are more green scenery compared to Chichen Itza where only pyramids and fortresses can be seen. Moreover, i love to climb the hill or mountain so, i like Macchu Picchu since it is situated on the high hills while Chichen Itza is on the low land.

  • spectacular - impressive or sensational
  • greatest - larger in size or quantity
  • perfect - without flaw,fault or blemish.
d) 5 past perfect tense :
  • made - produced or manufactured.
  • placed - put in a particular position
  • remained - things that left over
  • trained - having acquired necessary skills
  • raised - lift or moved to higher position.

2nd VOCABULARY ENTRY:

1) Abominable - exceptionally bad or displeasing
ex: - The schools in the U.S. have become abominable, including most of the private schools.
- John should punished heavily because he had done an abominable crime.

2) Depleted - almost sold out or reduced.
ex: - The museum's stock of kitchen material has been sadly depleted in the last few months.
- The protein for muscle growth to replenish the glycogen depleted from your workout.

3)Executions - A putting to death as a legal penalty; death lawfully inflicted
ex : - The executions could prompt a strong reaction from their supporters such as demonstrations, acts of violence and reprisal attack.
- The annual average number of executions in Singapore in recent years is more than 30.

4)Enthusiastic - having or showing a great excitement and interest
ex : - The great majority of employees are quite enthusiastic when they start a new job.
- I like having Lia around because she is so enthusiastic and there is so much vitality from her.

5) Mutiny - open rebellion against constituted authority
ex : - The eight defendants in trial two were all charged with prison mutiny.
- Suddenly, without a note of warning, the great mutiny broke upon us

6) Adequately - enough
ex: - She had not adequately researched her topic before asking for help from others.

7)Invincible - cannot be overcome
ex : - Chelsea are not invincible, the league is not won.

8) Circumnavigated - to go completely around something
ex : - Two hours later and we have finally circumnavigated the points of view of the people sitting the round table.
- The modern galleon has also circumnavigated the globe, and is a floating museum open to the public.

9) Obviously - something that is readily apparent or easy to see.
ex : - There was obviously no way to pass the man except by using physical force.
- He laughed, although it was plain that he was obviously put out.

10)Influence - to affect a person or thing
ex : - Influence public perception and build awareness of disability issues.
- Soil the texture of soil has a large influence on the nitrogen content of the soil.
